From Longhorns To Clogs

I am writing this to you from the economy class section of a Continental Airlines 767-400R that is about to fly over Toronto at 36,000’.  We are about to start the flight over the Atlantic Ocean – about 5 hours away from Amsterdam.  Here is a picture that Sandra just took of us.

Our day started a bit like it left off yesterday evening – in the company of some of our business partners.  The four of us searched for and found a very well known Mexican cafe for a very nice breakfast.  The hotel’s concierge recommended the cafe and her recommendation was a good one.

We spent the time over breakfast getting to know more about Brody and Robert – two great guys that will do very well with Agel.  The time we had available was too short as we had to head back to the hotel and check out.

We arrived at the airport around 11.15am and had no problems getting onto the flight to Houston.  In fact, they confirmed our seats to Amsterdam!!  Who said that there is stress associated with staff (standby) travel – we had better not become too complacent.

We had a 3 hour stop over in Houston – a welcomed break as we were able to catch up on some emails, our thoughts and some of our family.

Houston airport is a very well laid out, very clean and very modern airport so it was not too hard to spend 3 hours having some time out.

We arrived at our departure gate with plenty of time to spare and boarded the relatively empty 767 to Amsterdam and pushed back on time!!

So now, with the computer’s battery fading (down to 30%) and my eyes doing much the same, I will finish up today’s “blog” and try to get some sleep before they wake us up and serve breakfast (we just finished dinner).  We arrive in Amsterdam around mid-day so we need to get a bit of sleep before hitting the streets of the city.

More to follow in tomorrow’s European version of the 2008 Winter Geltour.  Bye for now.
