Cold Weather Touring and Family Goodbyes

Another cold morning.  Another hot breakfast.  Another: “We don’t need any lunch today” comment!!

It was relatively warm in Calgary today (if you can class -4 degrees as warm) so we had a reprieve from having to layer up with clothes.

Today we chose to have a look over our condo’ here in Calgary.  The condo’ is between tenants at the moment so it was nice to be able to have a good look over the place without any furniture in it.  The management company have been doing a really good job of making sure it is looked after so it won’t be long before new tenants take up residence.

We headed out of town to a place called Elbow Valley. This is a beautiful community to the west of Calgary and Sandra loves some of the houses out there.  It was lovely to drive out into the countryside a bit too.  You get some beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains as you are driving out west – always a magical sight to see.

We spent a hour or so with The Princess’s Nana at the nursing home before saying goodbye to her as we fly out for Texas tomorrow.

From the nursing home we drove to one of the many malls here in Calgary to catch up with another of our friends, Jane.  Jane paid us a visit in Hong Kong last year and we had not seen her for some time.  It is always good to catch up with friends and find out how they have been.

Our final night in Calgary was spent out at Diane’s house (Sandra’s sister).  We went out to say goodbye to Aidan and Ciara (the niece and nephew) before leaving Canada.  Diane will be spending the weekend in Austin with us so we can say our goodbye’s to her down there.

Aidan and Ciara enjoyed some play time with Aunty and Uncle before we left for the drive back to the B&B.  Diane lives quite a distance out of town and it is a long trip on a dark and snowy night.  We arrived “home” safely and took some time to pack the bags for our departure at 13.00 tomorrow.

More to follow from the home of Texas “tea”, the 10 gallon hat and big steaks.
